This was a great hotel, in a fantastic location. Minutes walk to the train station, and close to car rentals. The check in was excellent, with our limited French, the attendant was able to speak English, and was very helpful. The room although very small to North American standards, it was spotless, and very comfy. Perfect for us as all we needed was a place to rest. Great restaurants just a short walk across the bridge, so we never tried the breakfast provided from the hotel. This building has a small lift to help with luggage transport. Overall great value for the money in a very clean, updated property.

Surrounded by Normandy countryside, Caen is a proud city which pays poignant tribute to its past. It suffered greatly during World War II and although most damage has been carefully rebuilt, one monument remaining partly in ruins is Saint-Étienne-le-Vieux church.
It sits opposite a floral park overlooked by the stately 11th-century Abbaye aux Hommes, built by William the Conqueror, who is buried here. His wife is buried in the equally grand Abbaye aux Dames by an even larger park to the east. Between the 2 lies another of William’s creations – the remarkably intact 11th-century Norman castle which now houses museums of Normandy history and fine art.
Another unmissable museum is the Memorial for Peace, a sensitive portrayal of the horrors of war, with particular emphasis on the D-Day landings on beaches north of the city. One road leading there passes Pegasus Bridge and the large Caen-Ouistreham passenger ferry port. The city is also served by Carpiquet Airport and a train station.
The surrounding streets are lined with shops and restaurants, and there are a few half-timbered buildings dotted around. The bars on Rue Ecuyére offer some of the best nightlife and are popular with the large student population.
Booking.com’s range of Caen accommodation includes luxury hotels, cheap B&BS and apartments with parking.

The city is friendly and it is easy and cheap to get around using public transport. There are good restaurants, we can highly recommend Le Carlotta, great food, wine and a warm welcome.
Tips for visiting Normandy sites.
We used the 12 bus to visit Pegasus Bridge and Ranville Cemetery. Do not get on the 12 EX as this is the express bus and does not use the same route!
However, reaching the British Memorial at Ver-Sur-Mer from Caen in September proved impossible on public transport and a taxi was needed.

We mainly stayed in Caen for the Ferry crossing to the UK.
There are many places to visit and a short drive to
Ouistreham and the D Beaches, which we found very interesting to visit and a big part of history.
In Caen at the top to the right of the Chateau/castle there is a court place area of beautiful restaurants, a bit hidden away, worth finding.

It was an awesome place in the heart of the city with a lot of things to do and to explore around. We really enjoyed our stay. There is enough to see an do for at least a good three/four day stay. Lots of great museums and churches to visit. We ate in the old part of the city which was lovely and the food and atmosphere were great. There seems to be great public transport and a free tourist bus. We were also lucky enough to catch the large Sunday market.

Caen has got everything. A racetrack, a canal with boats.
Caen has got everything. A racetrack, a canal with boats. The resting places of both William the conqueror and Maltide his wife. A museum that details the bombardment in World war two in photographs and objects is housed in the Hotel de Ville. It is a modest collection, but all the better for that. Caen was bombed extensively in the war, entirely by allied bombing. There is a city bus line 6a and 6b that takes you all around the city, in a circular route, so you can get everywhere easily.

Would have loved to spend more time wandering the streets,...
Would have loved to spend more time wandering the streets, as we only really had one full day to explore.
Loved the Abbey des Hommes where tomb of William the Conquerer is, could have spent more time exploring this site.
Seemed to be lots of inviting restaurants, so again if we'd stayed longer could have tried out a lot more of what was on offer.
The room was a twin and it was nice and big. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. If you want breakfast you pay extra for it and it was nice with yogurt and bread and jams etc. the location was fantastic - we started at Caen train station and the tram was easy to find and took us to the area with just one street to walk up to the hotel. It is close to Caen castle and the Abbaye aux Hommes (where William the Conqueror's tomb is) and is close to restaurants and cafes.
The hotel is a little far out from places it’s in the middle of a being built new area, the area itself doesn’t have much to do bar going shopping at a supermarket. But I’m sure once they build it up more there will be more to do? It was two bus rides from the ferry port to get to, but a comfortable walking distance to Caen owning that Sunday buses are every three hours!
1. Elena was a great host! The breakfast was amazing and it was kind of the best hotel breakfasts we had during our trip to France.
2. There was private parking free of charge.
3. The location is not too far from the centre (20-25 min walk to all the main sightseeing).
4. Even though there were other guests on the floor, we had a private bathroom just for us.
The continental breakfast was excellent. Staff very helpful and would definitely recommend the hotel . It was very conveniently situated and we thought Caen was a great destination. The centre of Caen felt very safe, clean and a multitude of cafes and bars and a great vibe. Also for visiting Normandy beaches a great location.
Perfect apparthotel for a short stay in Caen. The apparthotel was situated within walking distance of the city center. We did not use the hotel´s parking but could easily park just outside (paid parking). Thankfully the airco worked perfectly during some really hot days! Personnel very helpful about where to go in Caen etc.
Very nice hotel! The room was very clean and comfortable. Parking was on site and free, and we were within walking distance to the Caen memorial museum. Breakfast was 14 Euros, and was very good. Staff at the front desk were very nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay!
The staff and hotel were fine. The location is directly across the street from , train &, bus station and the car rental office is on the same street. The hotel is clean and the staff are very helpful. It is a perfect place for 1 night.
I loved the staff. They were so nice and friendly. The room was big and comfortable and the location was close to the city center. We had breakfast and it was quite good. The hotel was right in front of a big supermarket and it was great.
Perfect Location, just around the corner from the Chateux and main shopping street. We paid for parking with the hotel and it was a very safe carpark in a busy city. The staff were very nice and helpful.
This hotel was charming and clean. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome! The building is beautiful and like a picture out of a story book. Breakfast was fresh and delicious.
Easy to find on the outskirts of Caen, secure parking as on a motorcycle. Near to a good restaurant as recommended by the hotel. Always the same good standard as others in the chain.
Rooms were small but clean. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Continental breakfast was good.
Hotel seemed to full of business travellers because it was in Caen center.
The 2 Rooms were correctly organized as requested on the booking and cleaned.
Good value for money and very near to the caen memorial museum.
Staff was kind and very informative.
Isabelle and Guillaume were friendly, helpful and attentive. The location is walking distance to many restaurants. The breakfast at the hotel is complete.
The Accommodation is fabulous, all needs catered for.
Great location near the center of Caen, Shops, bars etc.
The cathedral is just a short walk away.
